HORSE ADOPTION
There is a horse adoption process that you must go through in order to adopt a horse. You will not fully own the horse for two years after the process is complete. The process includes an application, approval, fees, contracts, transportation, and updates.
Horse adoption requires you to fill out an application for approval. You will be required to answer all of the questions about the horse adoption and sign that you agree to taking care of the horse as specified by the horse adoption facility. The application requires a $10 application fee and you can obtain the application online to print and fill out. You can submit your application over the internet or faxed in and you should not expect an answer for up to two weeks of submitting the application.
Your application for horse adoption will take about two weeks to process. Once processed, you will be notified by email if you were approved or not approved. If you already know of the horse that you want to adopt, they will not hold the horse for you until you are approved. If someone comes to adopt the horse, then you are out of luck. When you see the horse that you like, you must contact the facility that is stabling the horse.
A horse will be held for you after you have been approved and you have paid the required adoption fees. There will also be additional fees if the horse needs a coggins or a health certificate.
You will also be required to sign two contracts for horse adoption. These two contracts include a horse adoption contract and a boarding contract. The horse adoption contract is mandatory and if you are going to be boarding your horse then you should sign and return the boarding contract.
You will be required to transport your new horse from the facility. If you don’t come within a week, you will be charged daily for the boarding. You will also be required to send updates about your horse for the next two years to the agency showing them current pictures and proof that the horse is healthy and okay.
Horse adoption requires a process and is a great idea if you are looking for a new horse.
